Don't miss the DVAA exhibit opening reception
and co-sponsored event for
"Shelter: Dreams of Home"

on Saturday, May 14,
at the Bernardston Unitarian Meetinghouse.

Note: long time DVAA member Louise Minks will provide a historical perspective opening our event with an interactive exercise "Paupers and Poor Farms-1640-WWII." We will present this year's DVAA Youth Scholarship Awards at 3pm. And don't miss the finale 5-8 pm...our web master Kevin Slattery with his rocking band "The Walter Mittys". Service Opportunity during the event: An on-site van will be a collection center during the event for donations of new household items such as cleaners, mops, sponges, toiletries, and other items needed in setting up a home.

The event is free and open to the public. Any donations will benefit the Interfaith Council Shelter Fund which supports keeping people in their homes or helping them afford getting into housing.

Day-long event on Sat. May 14th, starts at 11 am and ends with free Walter Mittys band performance from 5-8 pm.

ART SCHOLARSHIP AWARDING: During the Art Exhibition opening reception from 3-5 pm, we will award the 2011 DVAA High School Art Scholarships to two local recipients.

POETRY: Hear from local poets including Susan Cummings, Maureen Moore and Storm during the art opening reception.

LIVE MUSIC: The day ends in celebration with THE WALTER MITTYS, "from bar to barn to bayou and back!" Be ready to dance in the aisles of the historic meetinghouse with great acoustics! See www.thewaltermittys.com
